Before a wetland dries out in summer, pobblebonks dig themselves into the soil and under rocks and logs in or nearby. They are able to retain sufficient water in their bodies and wait for the drought to break.
In spring, after heavy rain, male pobblebonks generally call to attract females. Female pobblebonks are generally breeding. However, low rainfall means there may be fewer tadpoles.
