Freshwater turtle

Freshwater turtles have webbed feet and small sharp claws. They need to lay their eggs on land but only feed in fresh water, snapping up any small animals they can catch, including insects and tadpoles.

Their necks can only move sideways. They are able to hide their head and neck inside their shell.

Freshwater turtles particularly like to sun themselves on fallen logs that are exposed in the water.
