During the colder months, growling grass frogs are likely to be hiding under a log or among the thick Poa grasses. To feed, they remain still and snatch up smaller creatures that pass by.
In Victoria the growling grass frog is listed as threatened. Its numbers have been greatly reduced. Well-protected areas like the Ecolinc wetland make it easier for these frogs to survive.
