Background
Every organism has a unique habitat within which it lives. This is where the basic needs of the organism, including food, water and shelter, are met. All organisms have a variety of features that enable them to survive in this habitat.
Learning Intentions
In this activity students will:
- Understand that living things live in different places where their basic needs are met.
- Learn that organisms have a variety of external features that enable them to survive in their habitat.
Activities
Students will:
- Examine three live native Australian animals and one native plant.
- Investigate the distribution and habitat requirements of these organisms.
- Identify the external features of these organisms that enable them to survive in their habitat.
