Background

Frogs are quite remarkable creatures, from their adaptations to their lifecycle they are a great animal for students to investigate.


Prior Knowledge

No prior knowledge necessary. Can be taught as a previsit, post visit or stand alone program


Learning Intentions

In this program students will:

  • Link the different parts to a frogs body with their functions
  • Undertsand camouflage
  • Be able to sequence the life cycle stages of frogs
  • Look at the internal structures of frogs.

Activities

Students will:

  • Play “Where’s the frog”
  • Observe live frogs or tadpoles
  • Sequence the frog lifecycle cards
  • Complete a frog dissection on the ipads.

Victorian Curriculum

  • Different living things have different life cycles and depend on each other and the environment to survive (VCSSU058 [1])
  • Safely use appropriate materials, tools, equipment and technologies (VCSIS067 [2])
  • Living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment (VCSSU074 [3]).
