Outline of unit

Students will learn how to assess the health of a waterway using macroinvertebrate sampling and a variety of water quality tests including turbidity, pH, conductivity and temperature. This can be done at a local waterway, or water and macroinvertebrate samples can be brought from the Werribee River and the program conducted in the classroom. Students will learn how to use their results to rate the quality of the water.

Pre, post or stand alone program

Post activity if students have already visited Ecolinc to complete the program. Stand alone if water and macroinvertebrate samples are brought in from the Werribee River.
