Ecolinc receives a DSE Vision for Werribee Plains Funding Grant

Ecolinc, with support from the DEECD, has successfully received a significant funding grant from the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) to develop an online learning program focusing on the biodiversity of the Western Volcanic Plains.
This new online learning program, designed for Years 5-8 and community members, will feature eight learning objects including; an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch application enabling the identification of Western Plains flora and fauna, an online survey tool, ‘Quadrats Online’, an online plant quadrat program allowing students to virtually map and assess plant quadrats over time, ‘Managing Grassland Ecosystems’, an interactive learning object enabling students to explore a range of environmental management decisions to restore a natural grassland, ‘Talk with the Experts’, a chance to interact with a range of experts in the field, a photo gallery, interactive quiz and a virtual excursion to the Mt Rothwell Biodiversity Interpretation Centre.
Support has been received from the DSE, Melbourne Museum, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, Nature Share, Mt Rothwell Biodiversity Interpretation Centre, Werribee Open Range Zoo and the University of Melbourne.
